Beginner I Agility

This class consists of introducing your dog to each obstacle and setting the foundation for your dog to learn to work with you. AKC Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Class
|
Canine Good Citizen
The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program was started in 1989 and it is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
The Canine Good Citizen Program has begun to have an extremely positive impact in many communities. This is a program that can help us assure that the dogs we love will always be welcomed and well-respected members of our communities.
Don’t let the word “test” scare you away from this great class. It is really just another fun activity to do with your dog: More physical and mental stimulation for both of you!
Prerequisites: Qualified dogs are able to respond to most basic cues (sit, down, stay, wait, leave it, come, etc.) with a low level of distraction.

Out for a Walk
Have you been through our Basic Skills class and are looking for a new way to practice some of your skills? Then join us in the park for some fresh air and fun! Out For A Walk is a chance to practice your loose leash walking and sitting to be greeted, with all the distractions of a real-world environment. This class is intended to help you practice the skills you already know, assuming you already have the foundation knowledge and understanding of things to do, things to avoid, and why.
Necessary Equipment:
- A flat collar (no pinch or check chains) or front clip harness
- A 4 or 6 foor leash (no retractable leashes)
- Treat pouch & Treats
- Clicker (if you're already familiar with it and have been using it with us)
- Dog Waste Bags
Requirements:
- Dogs should have basic skills, such as sit and wait, and have a foundation in loose leash walking (i.e., this shouldn’t be the first time you’ve ever tried to teach your dog to walk loosely on a leash!). Ideally, owners and dogs have taken a basic skills class.
- While this is on-leash training and there will not be off-leash social play, dogs should be able to tolerate the presence of other dogs in near proximity if the dog is aggressive or reactive to other dogs, this is not the appropriate avenue of training.
