Dog Boarding, Daycare, and Training in Houston, Texas
There is a camera system that records all areas of the ranch. These cameras are there to monitor our guests’ safety and well-being. They are utilized during the day to watch dogs who we may be concerned about (high stress, seizures, guests who are new to boarding, etc). The camera system is also used if something needs review in order to to determine the issue (eg: if there are two siblings in the same room and one gets sick, we can tell which one). The camera system is not open to the public, but can be viewed by the owner and manager from offsite in case the need arises.
Houston Dog Ranch encourages social play among our boarding guests. However, in order to participate in social play, a temperament test is required. It is recommended that this be scheduled at least two weeks prior to boarding. In order for dogs to maintain social status, they must participate in group play a minimum of once every six months. If more than six months have passed since a dog has participated in group play at HDR, the dog must be re-evaluated to make sure they are still social. The cost for evaluation is $40.
Yes, all rooms are heated and air-conditioned. Additionally, there are temperature sensors in each room/building to monitor the average temperature in case of any malfunction.
The daily activities of each guest are monitored and tracked on their report card, which will go home with the dog at checkout. We do encourage owners to call or email to check on their pup anytime they would like to. (Even multiple times per day!)
When boarding, we require guests to bring their own food from home. This helps to avoid unnecessary stomach upset that can occur when a dog’s regular diet changes. You may also bring some items from home that might make your dog more comfortable. This can include bedding, toys, bones, or something else that smells familiar. The Ranch will supply food/water bowls and daily treats for all guests. We are also happy to supply bedding/raised cots as needed.
