“They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I now know you can.

My dog Beringer and I attended Colleen's Basic Skills class when Ber was 8 years old. In addition to the new and improved skills, the enjoyment of bonding with each other and our human and canine classmates was wonderful for us both. Last month Beringer and I attended a class to prepare for the AKC Good Citizen test, and I am happy to say that Beringer passed the test with flying colors two months shy of her 9th birthday! We’re looking forward to the next class we can take at Houston Dog Ranch.”

Some skills focused on may include:

Coming when called

Go to mat/bed/crate

Loose leash walking

Leave it

Wait at doorways/curb/car

Polite greetings (instead of jumping up)

Day School

Ideal for owners who don't have as much time as they like to work on manners at home.  During Day School, your dog can learn some basic manners, brush up on old skills, or just get the mental stimulation they're missing while you’re at work.  We can work with your dog while she is here for daycare or day boarding.

“I have never, ever been disappointed in the training that Lotus and I have received!

Lotus (King Charles Cavalier Spaniel) was eager to learn and I wanted to find the ‘right’ place that used gentle and loving training techniques. Colleen is a gracious and conscientious teacher and made each class important in our lives. Thank you everyone at the Ranch!”
